You get just one post today. We rolled into Iowa and stopped just short of Urbandale to meet up with the Lt. Governor, Sally Pederson. I’ve been meaning to shoot a video clip of the convoy and finally did that.
The Commissioner on Ethanol
We met the Commissioner of Tailgating, Joe Cahn, the other day. He was out in the sun tailgating again today.

Dan McNichol On Eisenhower
At the Interstate Perspectives symposium in Cheyenne, noted transportation author, Dan McNichol, who is a convoy participant and driver, spoke to the crowd.
Governor Jon Huntsman Likes Ethanol
This morning Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. greeted the interstate convoy. He brought his black Harley to escort us to the Wyoming line. Here you can see him getting ready to saddle up and lead us out of town.
Convoy Truck Driver
Travelling along with our convoy is Ralph Garcia, Highway Safety Truck. Ralph was my ride back to the hotel last night.
Head Out On The Highway
This is what my view was like as we left San Francisco this morning. Looking at the rear end of a vintage Hudson. I’ll have more on it and the driver in a future post.
The Race Is On
The race has started. After the first lap we had a two-car accident but no injuries and car #17 is looking good right now. After this post I won’t do any until after the race.
