On our last evening here in Salt Lake City a group of us from the convoy were hosted at a private home up on a mountainside overlooking the city for a very relaxing dinner. We started out though putting mailing labels on boxes that are being sent overseas to our troops via Operation Interdependence.

When we got into Salt Lake City late yesterday we went straight to “This is the Place” State Park.

We drove through some pretty territory getting here to Salt Lake City. At our midday fuel stop you could see some snow on the mountain tops around us.

Our first major fueling stop on the highway Saturday was this Travel Center of America truck stop.

It’s the end of the day here in Reno. Tomorrow it’s on to Salt Lake City with an early departure.

As is normally the case for me when I’m out and about, I’ve got way more pictures than I can ever post for you. At the conclusion of this 2 week cross country adventure I’m going to post a Flickr photo album for you that will have lots of interesting photos.

I just missed the ribbon cutting ceremony after which we had to start our engines and take off on the highway today. It was held in front of this truck which proudly displays the reason we’re travelling cross country this month.

This is the San Francisco skyline behind the staging area for this morning’s convoy kickoff. It was a beautiful sunrise on the bay.

As we drove over the Bay Bridge today I tried to get a good shot of Alcatraz.

We’re not going to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge but I did get to see it on a beautiful sunny day here in San Francisco.
